Our Mission
and Values

The story of Ledge Stone Orchards begins in 1740, when Nathan Bushnell established a farm on what is now the historic Lebanon Green. The land remained in the same family for 258 years, witnessing generations of farming before Steve Preli purchased the property in 1998.

Steve grew up working in the orchards of South Glastonbury, where his great-grandfather and other Preli relatives—immigrants from Italy’s Apennine Mountains—planted fruit trees on the rocky hills, reminiscent of their homeland. Inspired by this legacy, Steve planted his first apple orchard in 2001, transforming the former dairy farm into a thriving fruit-growing operation.

Partnerships & Community

At Ledge Stone Orchards, we believe that a thriving farm is one that is deeply connected to its community. That’s why we partner with local markets, farm stands, restaurants, and retailers to share our fresh, locally grown fruit with as many people as possible.

Our collaborations help support the local economy, preserve Connecticut’s agricultural traditions, and promote sustainability in the food industry.

We are always looking for new partnerships that align with our mission of providing high-quality fruit while strengthening local connections.

Whether you're a small business looking for fresh produce or a market interested in carrying our apples and peaches, we’d love to hear from you.

By 2004, West Green Farm, LLC was officially established, expanding to include a second apple block, a peach orchard, hay production, and fresh produce for the farm stand.

In 2024, recognizing the farm’s evolving focus on orchards and fruit production, Steve renamed the business Ledge Stone Orchards—a name that reflects both his family’s history of growing on rocky terrain and the natural ledge outcrops of the Lebanon farm.

Today, Ledge Stone Orchards continues to honor the past while growing for the future, offering high-quality, locally grown fruit to the community.
